New Browser Requirements for Online Banking

Southern Bancorp is dedicated to keeping your information safe by using the latest security technology. For that reason, we will be upgrading our TLS security software starting April 2nd, 2017. If you have the most up-to-date version of your chosen browser, this upgrade will not affect you.

However, if you are having issues logging in, you may need to update your browser.

How do I clear my cache?

The first thing to try if you are having technical difficulties is to clear your browser history, cookies, and cache. That may resolve any issues.

I’m getting the error message “Stronger security is required”.

If you have Internet Explorer and see the “Stronger security is required” error message, this is not in fact a security issue. The browser is just trying to use TLS 1.0 that is now disabled for your safety. In order to fix this error, you may need to turn on the TLS 1.1 and TSL 1.2 settings in the Internet Options | Advanced Settings list.

 

  1. Click on the gear (or Settings Menu) in the top right corner of your browser
  2. Second to last on the menu, click Internet Options
  3. Click on the tab Advanced Settings
  4. Scroll to the bottom of the checklist. Under the Heading “Security” select the check box next to Use TLS 1.1, and Use TLS 1.2
  5. Save and exit. Close your browser, and when you open it up again, you shouldn’t receive that message.
