Clark County voters approved a 0.5-cent sales and use tax for economic development Tuesday. As of 9:15 p.m., complete but unofficial results were 1,755 ballots cast in favor of the measure and 804 votes cast against.
The funds, which will be collected for seven years, will be used to bring jobs and industry to Clark County. Under state law, the expenditures will be governed by a five-member Economic Development Corporation chosen by County Judge Ron Daniell and confirmed by the Quorum Court. The five will complete an economic development course within the first year of their appointment to the corporation, according to a resolution approved by the court.
