Do you believe that we need to find a way to better fund economic development activities in Clark County?
Are you interested in attracting jobs, new restaurants and places to shop?
Are you interested in growing the community?
If you answered yes to any or all of these, then you need to attend the meetings of the Clark County Strategic Planning committee. There is one today at 6 p.m. at Ouachita Baptist University. Tonight, the process of setting goals for our community – real, achievable goals – will begin.
If you have not been involved in the CCSP, it is time to get involved. If you have something you wish to contribute to the process, it’s time to step forward and make yourself heard.
The Daily Siftings Herald supports the CCSP, and we encourage everyone – all of our elected officials, all of our appointed officials – to come to the meetings and contribute. It is not too late. Now is the time to pitch in. We can see no reason for anyone not to take an active interest in the efforts of this group.
We believe the CCSP has not only the desire, but also the means, to provide long-term improvements. This is not just an “Arkadelphia thing” – it’s for Amity, Gurdon, the entire county. Everyone.
The CCSP is beginning to put together a plan that will be published in July. This plan will be the impetus for growth in Clark County. All it takes is your input.
The CCSP is asking residents to “vision,” or dream big. Do you want a Target store in Clark County? You need to come to the meetings, speak up and have it put in the plan. Do you want to see a hotel on the interstate? Put it in the plan. Do we need a stronger CCIC? Put it in the plan.
If it’s in the plan, we will have a shot at getting it done. But it must be in the plan.
This is not a pie-in-the-sky wish list. We believe that the plan, once complete, can be used to help Clark County realize its full potential.
We hope to see members of the Arkadelphia City Board and the Clark County Quorum Court at tonight’s meeting and at future CCSP meetings.
We want everyone to work together to create a beneficial plan for all.
We’ll see you there.
