Main Street Helena and the Phillips County Chamber of Commerce have teamed up to present two forthcoming workshops according to Julia Nordsieck, community development officer for Southern Bancorp Community Partners.
“One is focused on providing support for our local small businesses,” stated Nordsieck. “The other will provide really important information about how property owners can and should be benefitting from special historic or rehabilitation tax credits.”
The first workshop, “Be a Top Dog” is a workshop for small businesses on how to compete with larger businesses. Mark Miller of Main Street Arkansas will lead the session. The key topics to be covered include: What draws people to shop local, what drives customers away from shopping downtown, factors that help small stores survive, and thinking outside the traditional retail “box.”
