Participants kicked off Leadership Clark County at Camp Winnamocka Thursday. A total of 24 individuals from throughout the county were recently selected to participate in the course as the Inaugural Class.
This inaugural group started their day with LCC chairman Billy Tarpley providing some words of encouragement and State Rep. Johnnie Roebuck facilitating exercises on leadership styles. The class continued throughout the day working with the staff at Camp Winnamocka on team building exercises and ended the day tackling the High Ropes course.
Leadership Clark County is a program of the Economic Development Corporation of Clark County (EDCCC) designed to identify, educate, and motivate potential leaders to become involved in the future of our community. LCC brings together individuals from diverse backgrounds and experiences from the public and private sectors, who have demonstrated both talent and interest in community leadership.
The EDCCC is sponsoring this program because the future leadership is critical to continuing economic growth of this area. This program is a nine-month course designed for those who are committed to shaping the future of our community. The program seeks to produce a networked group of leaders who understand the county’s special sense of place and share a common commitment to support and sustain our economy. Presentations from experts from a variety of local organizations and institutions provide participants a unique opportunity to examine the dynamics of social, political and economic changes affecting community life.
This nine-month program began yesterday and full-day sessions will be held each month through June.
Sessions include: Orientation/Interpersonal Skills Test, Team Building and Ropes Course; Clark County History; Effective Leadership; Education and Economic Development; Industry Tours; Transportation and Healthcare; Arkansas Legislative Reception; Agriculture and Wood Products; City and County Government; Tourism and Regional Cooperation and Graduation.
